Age

When it comes to infants and children, there's no such thing as "one size fits all." Paxley eyewear comes in three sizes with suggested age ranges. The age ranges are based on extensive research, but should only be used as a guide, because every face and head is different. We recommend using the size chart to find the pair with the best fit. A slightly oversized look is a signature of Paxley frames. If sunglasses fit well then children are more likely to wear them and protect their delicate eyes.

Age 6 Months - 2 Years

Health professionals recommend that newborns not be exposed to direct sunlight until they are about 6 months old. For this reason we would not recommend prolonged wear of sunglasses on newborns until they are 6 months or older. Because infants can vary in head size during the early years, this size may continue to fit beyond the age of 24 months. The important factor here is the length of the temples (the stems). Paxley temples have a corewire which makes them bendable and allows them to be adjusted as your child's head grows. If the sunglasses no longer fit comfortably over the ears, or if they no longer offer suitable coverage around the eye area, then it's time to move up a size.

Age 2 - 4 Years

Due to different growth rates, this size may continue to fit beyond the age of 3. The important factors are not only the width and making sure that the pupils are centered behind the lenses, but also the temples (the stems). Paxley temples have a core-wire which makes them bendable and allows them to be adjusted as your child's head grows. If the sunglasses no longer fit comfortably over the ears, or if they no longer offer suitable coverage around the eye area, then it's time to move up a size.

Age 3 - 5 Years

This size is recommended for kids over 3 years of age. During fitting sessions with children of various ages, we found that most children up to 5 years of age and some children as old as 6 or older wore their Paxley's comfortably. The most important factor is the temple (stem) and making sure that it fits comfortably over the ears, as well as ensuring good coverage around the eye area. Paxley temples have a corewire which makes them bendable and allows them to be adjusted as your child's head grows.
